Led by Aix-Marseille University (AMU), this interdisciplinary session took place on 11 March 2025 in Aix-en-Provence as part of the uBlueTec project.
Fifteen participants – law, geography, and marine science students – explored global approaches to managing Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and the complex challenges of social acceptance.
The course examined governance models from Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia, highlighting stakeholder roles and participatory strategies.
A key focus was the FIDELIO project’s case studies on Port-Cros and Calanques National Parks, which provided insights into forecasting social impacts of biodiversity conservation policies.
By combining theoretical perspectives with practical examples, this pilot strengthened participants’ ability to navigate the ecological, legal, and social dimensions of MPA management.
