Led by Aix-Marseille University (AMU), this pilot took place on 8 November 2024 in Aix-en-Provence as part of the uBlueTec project.
Nineteen master’s students were introduced to the fundamentals of maritime archaeology and underwater documentation. The course explored site formation processes, environmental and human factors, and the evolution of research methodologies in coastal and harbour archaeology.
Students gained insights into tools and techniques for underwater cultural heritage studies – from basic instruments to advanced robotics – and examined issues related to conservation, management, and dissemination.
By combining theoretical knowledge with practical examples, this pilot strengthened participants’ ability to interpret submerged landscapes and apply innovative technologies to preserve maritime heritage.
Through uBlueTec, future professionals are equipped with essential skills for sustainable underwater research and conservation.
