Led by Aix-Marseille University (AMU), this large-scale field course took place on 30 November 2024 in the Parc National des Calanques, France, as part of the uBlueTec project.
Bringing together 147 participants, the training offered an immersive experience aboard a research vessel, combining direct observation of coastal landforms with insights into the ecological and legislative frameworks of marine protected areas. Students and stakeholders engaged in interactive lectures, on-site presentations, and data collection exercises focused on geomorphological features, water clarity, and visible human impacts.
By linking theory to real-world observation, this pilot strengthened participants’ understanding of how coastal morphology and conservation policies intersect, fostering essential skills for sustainable management of marine environments.
Through uBlueTec, future professionals gain the expertise to integrate science, governance, and field practice in marine protection.
