ATLANTIS (est. 1992) has vast experience in the management and implementation of national/international projects in the fields of sustainable tourism valorization of underwater archaeology, designing and testing of underwater technologies, ICT research, innovation policy, innovative financing (e.g. Business Angels Networks), evaluation and impact assessments for public and private organizations etc. ATLANTIS has also significant experience from projects aiming at promotion of culture, “blue” technologies and the exploitation of the underwater wealth (cultural and natural) for the benefit of the European economy. In recent years, ATLANTIS by coordinating or participating in Greek and European projects (i.e. BLUEMED, BLUEMED PLUS, MeDryDive, DiveSafe, Lab4Dive, UCRCA, MAGNA, MAREBOX, ScienceDiver, CREAMARE, ART4SEA, BCThubs, ecoRoute etc.) have contributed to tangible achievements such as:

  • Development of a platform that addresses the demand and supply for jobs, identifies the skill gap, and provides e-learning training based on the identified skill gap of each candidate in the BlueTech Economy Sector.
  • Development of a Roadmap for the promotion of Scientific Diving in Europe.
  • Involvement in numerous scientific diving missions (Underwater archeology).
  • Implementation of Underwater technologies and diving activities due to the very experienced and skillful personnel.
  • Promotion, at local and international level, of the principle that the protection of the underwater archaeological heritage presupposes the touristic development and awareness creation primarily for the benefit of the local communities and always having as a basis the principles of sustainable development.

Angelos Manglis

Mr. Angelos Manglis is a member of the Hellenic Marine Archaeology Institute, an experienced diver and sailor as he has participated in many underwater expeditions, and a staunch supporter of maintaining in-situ underwater cultural heritage and operating Underwater Museums that are accessible to the diving public. Due to his admiration for the underwater activities he has been engaged and involved in several European Projects concerning the study and protection of the underwater cultural heritage in archaeological sites. Mr Manglis holds an MSc in ‘Archaeology and the History of Arts’ at the Dept. of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a focus on Underwater Archaeology. He, also, holds an MSc in “Technical Change & Industrial Strategy” from PREST Institute of the University of Manchester and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Democrition University of Thrace. As an expert in RTD project management he has contributed to the formation of strategies for technology and business development and developed a portfolio of strong working relationships and contacts with many high-technology and IT companies, as well as policy makers globally.

Polyvios Raxis

Mr. Polivios Raxis is an IT expert with over 25 years of experience in project management, system architecture and design, and with substantial experience in interactive WEB services and mobile apps, as well as in various types of validation evaluation (technical evaluation, user acceptance, impact analysis). He holds a BSc in mathematics and MSc in SW engineering. He has been involved in numerous international research and commercial projects related to Blue Economy, Blue Growth and Interactive Technologies, such as: ArcSite and EC_TOPIC (interactive technologies in tourism sector projects), Lab4Dive, DiveSafe, BLUEMED (advanced technologies for the preservation/restoration/documentation of UCH sites), ecoRoute, Toural (model to support tourism development of rural regions), BCThubs (Excellence Hubs for Blue Culture Technologies). He was the coordinator of several projects related to Blue Economy and has been the co-author of several scientific papers.

Tasos Tzifopanopoulos

Project Administrator with over 15 years of experience in project administration, management and supervision of projects’ financials, development of business plans, evaluation and verification of IT systems. He holds a BSc degree in Economic Sciences from the University of Athens, Greece. He has been involved in many Greek and European projects and investment plans, such as: POLYTIMO (innovative techniques for image and language processing), ArcSite (mobile platform, wireless interfaces for mobile devices, profiling, personalization), 2.7.1 and Digital Future (investment plans for companies), e-Services (development of mobile services), e-Security (development of digital security applications), DYNAMO (carpooling service), ATLAS (multilingual content management system), Lab4Dive, DiveSafe, GRASPINNO (e-Green Public Procurement tools development) BLUEMED (advanced technologies for the preservation/restoration/documentation of UCH sites), BLUEMED PLUS, NERITES, ecoRoute, Toural (model to support tourism development of rural regions), BCThubs (Excellence Hubs for Blue Culture Technologies).

Lydia Stergiopoulou

Lydia is a Researcher with expertise on socio-economics, valuation of ecosystem services and stakeholders engagement. She holds a BSc in Economics and a MSc in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from the University of Manchester (UK). She has worked in many EU research projects with case studies in Europe and Egypt towards climate change mitigation and adaptation in the framework of Interreg and Horizon projects. She has worked, also, with the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Athena Research Center and the Research Lab on Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability (AUEB). 

Parallel to her main professional activities she is pursuing a second BSc in Archaeology and her main areas of interest are underwater archaeology, the climate change impacts on submerged and terrestrial archaeological sites as well as sustainable heritage and underwater cultural tourism. During the last 4 years, she participates in the underwater missions of the Aigina Harbour City Project as well as in the Kasos Maritime Archaeological Project. She has published 5 articles in journals and conference proceedings and 1 book chapter. 

Finally, she has a total of around 210 hours of diving in the shallow waters of Aegina Harbor complex excavating, doing topographical work, and photographing. She holds the following certifications:

  • PADI Dry Suite
Vicky Drouga

Ms. Vasiliki Drouga holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Macedonia and a Master’s Degree in Tourism & Local Development from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a specialization in Regional Development. She has experience in Project Management and implementation of EU funded projects, National and Regional Development Programs, Public Tenders and in Business Plan development. She has worked in a diverse set of projects related to Blue and Green tourism, Underwater Cultural Heritage, Social Entrepreneurship and Event Management, pursuing both technical and business objectives. She speaks English, French and Greek.

Elena Tilegrafou

Elena Tilegrafou holds a Bachelor’s Degree of History and Archaeology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a specialization in Archaeology and Art History. Elena has experience in several excavations and research field surveys in Southern Greece, especially in data recording. She has also certifications on Analytical Techniques and Maintenance of Culture Heritage and Byzantine Influence in Medieval Russia and has experience in design software (Adobe Suite). Elena is communicative, methodical and always focusing on detail.
