Aix-Marseille University piloted a practical field course on marine and coastal geomorphology. Held on 18 October 2024 along the Côte Bleue in southern France, this training offered students a unique opportunity to observe and analyze the dynamic processes shaping Mediterranean coastlines.
The course brought together 44 students for an immersive day of fieldwork, combining guided snorkeling with independent observation of erosional notches and other geomorphological indicators of past and present sea-level positions. Participants learned to identify and interpret coastal landforms such as sea caves and cliff profiles, connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world evidence of environmental change. This hands-on approach strengthened technical field skills and encouraged critical reflection on how coastal morphology informs our understanding of climate impacts and long-term landscape evolution.
By integrating scientific theory with practical experience, this piloting reflects uBlueTec’s mission to prepare future professionals for careers that combine sustainability, technology, and resilience in marine and coastal environments.
